CCE Mission
The Council for Court Excellence works to improve the administration of justice in the local and federal courts and related agencies in the Washington metropolitan area. Formed in Washington, DC in January 1982, the Council is a nonprofit, nonpartisan civic organization.

2012 Stewart Awards will go to Jack Keeney, Jr. and Jim Tigers
The 16th Annual Justice Potter Stewart Award will be presented to John (Jack) C. Keeney, Jr., whose dedication to pro bono legal services created a model practice for firms in Washington, DC,and to James (Jim) L. Lyons, a tireless advocate for indigent clients.

30th Anniversary begins with Supreme Court event
CCE celebrated the beginning of our 30th Anniversary year with a celebration at the Supreme Court on Monday, January 23. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg hosted a very special celebration, and friends from around the DC community gathered for birthday cake.

CCE receives award for reentry work
The DC Office on Returning Citizen Affairs hosted an event on January 28, 2012, where CCE's work in the area of reentry and unemployment was honored with a "Community Appreciation Award." CCE Executive Director June Kress was presented with a commemorative plaque by ORCA Director Charles Thornton.
